In 1861 Andele Hellema began a bakery in the Frisian village of Hallum. In the fertile area of Northern Friesland lived many prosperous farmers who were looking for alternative tastes, something different than just bread. Hellema discovered this market-demand and began to offer them his delicious biscuits.
Currently the family-business is managed by the 5th generation of the Hellema family, the company has been developed into a modern and flexible company operating in a very dynamic market. Hellema operates not only on a national basis, but also operates internationally, distributing a large assortment of high quality biscuits to more than 90 countries throughout the world.
